Research:

Company history researched & written by, 1LT Michael Halter (40th Expeditionary Signal Battalion S1). His assistance is greatly appreciated for compiling the histories used throughout this Yearbook.

Graphics:

Specialist LeShan Jones provided graphics support to many of the photos in this DVD. He created the banners on each company’s page, designed the DVD Case Inserts and Disk Covers, and organized all of the photos in the Yearbook. His creative eye, and continued persistence ensured this project was a big success.

Photography & Video:

SGT Franklin Jeffries traveled throughout Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan to ensure he had still photos, and video photography of all 12 sites in Iraq, 7 sites in Afghanistan, and 2 sites in Kuwait. He travelled by C-130 Aircraft, C-17, UH-60 Black hawk, Armored HMMWV, and Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles to get to each site. He spent countless hours programming, editing, formatting, and establishing the right layout to ensure this project was a great success.

SPC Jones: Wall of Fame

SPC Jones created fantastic artwork throughout this deployment. He's been the go-to guy for all graphical needs, and he always came through with amazing results. His artistic abilities influenced each company with some type of graphic arts. One of his most well known works was the "GOT CAC" poster, which reminded Soldiers not to forget their ID Cards. This poster was displayed in many bases throughout Iraq and Kuwait. Most notably, the "GOT CAC" sign was posted in CJ6, Brigadier General Spano's office. SPC Jones not only demonstrated outstanding graphics to all of 40th ESB, he also influenced all units in Iraq with the creation of the hip pocket standards card. SPC Jones created the hip pocket MNFI Uniform Standards Card, and made it the size that each Soldier could keep in their pocket. This card was distributed throughout all Multi-National Forces- Iraq. This standards card was highlighted by the MNF-I Command Sergeant Major, when explaining the standards at the Command Sergeants Major meeting. SPC Jones is the go-to Guy for graphic arts. Most importantly he fulfilled all of 40th ESB’s graphical needs, and I express sincere gratitude and appreciation for his talent, hard work and dedication. SGT Jeffries.

I would like to express thanks to all of the 1SG's and all of the Soldiers who jumped right in and helped out with this project. I tried my very best to get everyone’s photos added to this Yearbook. Certainly, I wanted to make this Yearbook perfect and include everyone’s deployment pictures; however, I knew that was impossible. We ended up with 208GB of data after traveling to each FOB throughout the Theater of Operations, and we only had 7GB to work with. At first they called this project “Operation Jeffries”, and later changed the to “Operation Yearbook” because this project is all about “Team 40th”. SPC Jones and I tried very hard to bring the perfect story of “What we did”, and I know some of the data will not be perfect in everyone’s eyes. Some of you more than likely pulled more cable or spent more money, and wasn’t recognized, but you have not been forgotten. We used all data, pictures and art work that was given to us. Again, I would like to thank each and every Soldier who reached out and helped in the completion of this digital Yearbook.
