On December 31, 2008; All Soldiers that participated in the mass reenlistment ceremony received a United States American Flag (flown over the Al Far Palace), authentication certificate that accompanied the U.S. Flag, “200” reenlistment shirt, 11th Signal Brigade reenlistment coin, and 18th ABN Corps reenlistment coin (given on behalf of the 18th ABN Corps Retention SGM).

SSG Cowboy won the NETCOM Retention NCO of the Year

SGT Morales won the FORSCOM NCO of the Year

*40th was the first BN in NETCOM to complete the FY08 retention mission, exceeding requirements in all categories.

RETENTION TEAM:

The battalion spearheaded the most successful retention mission in the Signal Corps and was the first battalion program in NETCOM to accomplish the FY08 mission, retaining over 66% of all eligible Soldiers. In ten month’s time, Team 40th re-enlisted 125 Soldiers surpassing every one of its retention objectives and accumulating the following statistics: 147% Initial-term, 129% Mid-Career, and 159% Careerist. The battalion’s career counselor personally traveled over 5,000 miles in four countries, counseling Soldiers about their career options. The average reenlistment contract was for a period of 5 years, equating to 900 years of contracted service and over two million dollars in reenlistment bonus payments to Soldiers.
