Activating on 4 May 2008 in Kuwait, Echo Company moved north to assume operational base communications responsibilities at Mosul and Q West in Iraq. Echo Company quickly adapted to setting up operations and improving the communications infrastructure on the two bases for multiple Multi-National Division-North tenant units and their largest customer, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment.
They redesigned Mosul and Qwest fiber rings to ensure Area Distribution Node reliability, redundancy, and security by: installing UPS into ADNs, implementing access control measures to ADNs, ADN Hut fabrication through KBR and Mayor Cell, and ensuring redundant network paths were available to each ADN. In addition, Echo Company coordinated with major customers such as: 3rd ACR, 11th Sig BDE, and 1st AD, 30 CSSB, and 17 CSSB to increase services and effectiveness of service to tactical units leveraging the strategic infrastructure. Echo Company also upgraded TCF Power infrastructure in both Mosul and Qwest to ensure reliability of network and satellite communications between Baghdad and Arifjan and increased both Technical Control Facilities (TCF) capabilities by allowing the infrastructure to support additional customers. The company’s rapid success is a tribute to their team work and ability to expertly marshal resources. They effectively organized teams that surveyed infrastructure requirements, generated purchase requests and obtained resources, and performed upgrades of the highest quality to the largely tactical cable infrastructure - all to ensure the warfighters requirements were met.
