Delta Company deployed to the International Zone (IZ) and quickly established rapport with the myriad of customers, including MNF-I headquarters and staff, Multi-National Security Transition Command-Iraq (MNSTC-I), Department of State, and various other military and civilian agencies operating there.
The company successfully managed the operation and maintenance of two TCFs, a Cable platoon, a General Officer Communications team, and a personal security detail for the MNF-I CJ-6. They made immediate improvements to the communications infrastructure, especially at Phoenix Base where the cable team expanded MNSTC-I office space for over 500 users. The Soldiers of Delta Company provided communications by completing major infrastructure improvements including: migration of DS3 circuits to the Iraqi Hurria fiber optic link between the IZ and Victory Base, completion of the Aussie circuit providing Coalition forces with NIPR/SIPR services, Forward Operating Base Shield cable work in support of the Law and Order Task Force (LAOTF) and MNSTC-I. The company endured a three week extended barrage of indirect fire with no loss of life, equipment, or service to the warfighter, and twice facilitated the repair of the Central Iraq Microwave System waveguide after it was damaged by enemy attack. Delta Company inactivated upon completion of their mission on 31 October 2008.
