Command Sergeant Major John J. Womble is a native of Washington, D.C. He first entered the United Stated Army in October 1983 as a Radio Teletype Operator. Upon completion of Basic Training at Fort Jackson, SC. CSM Womble attended AIT at Fort Gordon, GA. CSM Womble was then assigned to 2nd Infantry Division, Korea, 4/7 Cavalry. Previous assignments include HHC 2-502 Infantry, 101st AirBorne Div; 165th Signal Company, 59th Ordnance Brigade, Pirmesens, Germany; A Brty, 1-31 FA, B Brty, 1-19th FA, and 95th Reception Battalion, Fort Sill, OK; 67th Signal Battalion, Fort Gordon, GA., HHC EUSA, Youngsan, Korea; Alpha & Charlie Company 123rd Signal Battalion, Fort Stewart, GA. Charlie Company 44th Signal Battalion, 7th Signal Brigade. Also served as 1SG for Task Force Rock in OIF I, First Sergeant of Headquarters and Headquarters Company 5th Signal Command in Mannheim, Germany, S-3 Sergeant Major of 86th Signal Battalion at Fort Huachuca, AZ, and Command Sergeant Major of the 86th Signal Battalion. He is currently assigned as the CSM of 40th Signal Battalion in Fort Huachuca, AZ. CSM Womble held all leadership positions including: Teletype Operator, Team Chief, Section Sergeant, Drill Sergeant, Assistant Inspector General, Platoon Sergeant, First Sergeant, S-3 Sergeant Major, and Command Sergeant Major. CSM Womble's military education includes Air Assault School, Rappel Master Course, NBC Course, Master Fitness Trainer Course, Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course, Advance Non-Commissioned Officer Course, Drill Sergeant School, Inspector General Course, First Sergeant Course, and Sergeants Major Academy class 57. CSM Womble has a Masters Degree in Business Administration from University of Phoenix. His awards and decorations include: Meritorious Service Medal (3rd OLC), Army Commendation Medal (7th OLC), Army Achievement Medal (9th OLC), Outstanding Military Volunteer Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal (7th award), NCO Professional Development Ribbon (4th award), Korea Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, National Defense Service Medal (2nd award), the Army Superior Unit Award, the Air Assault Badge, Gold German Marksmanship award, and Drill Sergeant Badge. CSM Womble is a member of the Audie Murphy Club, Bronze Order of Mercury recipient, and an Order of Saint Barbara recipient. CSM Womble is happily married to Trina D. Womble, and they have two children, Jamal 18 years old and Jada 13 years old.





CSM John Womble is the 40th Expeditionary Signal Battalion Command Sergeant Major (2007-2009).
