From October 2007 to February 2008, Bravo Company acted as NETCOM’s primary contingency communications provider for the United States. The company trained extensively, conducted crew certifications, and stood ready to deploy anywhere in the US in support of the Homeland Security/Homeland Defense mission.
They were prepared to provide tactical style communications in response to an attack, natural disaster, or any scenario where local communications weren’t available for emergency response teams to coordinate rescue and security operations. In May 2008, Bravo Company deployed to Iraq and was given the monumental task of operating and maintaining the operational base communications infrastructure at Camps Adder, Cedar, Scania, Basra, and Bucca, the southern-most US bases in Iraq. As the principle communications providers at each of these sites, they made measurable improvements to the largely tactical standard infrastructure to deliver reliable enterprise services. They quickly improved the cable infrastructure on all of these bases while providing no-fail communications to the bases allowing scarce tactical communications assets to be used elsewhere. They put the MNF-I CJ6’s Defense in Depth program back on track by installing 108 new switches to replace non-compliant switches across the base and conducted a complete overhaul of the long neglected cable infrastructure plan at Adder, and upgraded the area distribution nodes in preparation for planned expansion. They worked hand in hand with British Forces at Basrah Air Station to improve the infrastructure serving both forces.
