69th Signal Company operated and maintained operational base communications at Taji, Iraq. During their tour to Iraq, 69th built the most reliable and redundant cable network ever seen at forward operating base Taji. They added over 40 new user buildings on to the network and added 6 new area distribution nodes (ADNs) to the infrastructure.
They understood the customers’ mission, determined their needs, and initiated projects that had a major impact on operations including: upgrading backbone switches, installing power upgrades to the technical control facility and the area distribution nodes, and replacing 60 long range Ethernet connections. The 69th expanded services to MNSTC-I elements on East Taji, connecting seven new buildings and two new ADNs to the fiber network. They remediated 279 end user buildings while supporting MNF-I initiatives including: upgrading the Firewall, Bluecoat and switches, Central Iraq Microwave System (CIMS) ATM switch, and providing the communications backbone to the Theater Internment Facility Reintegration Center (TIFRC) which involved 27 buildings. During this deployment, 28 Soldiers from the 69th Signal Company served in Afghanistan attached to the 25th Signal Battalion and 15 Soldiers served in Kuwait attached to the 54th Signal Battalion.
